Johnston and Wright create architecture that responds to a particular context and set of requirements. Our buildings, spaces and landscapes are the result of a collaborative effort in which we listen to the views of clients, consultants, users and the wider community to produce inspiring yet functional buildings. As a Practice experienced in conservation, we combine a depth of knowledge of traditional building techniques with a flair for the appropriate use of modern building materials and processes. As part of our commitment to encourage the transition towards a low carbon economy we utilise modern building techniques and green technology where appropriate.

Since the Practice was established in Carlisle in 1885 we have completed a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. Our track record for delivering buildings of high architectural value has received recognition with over fifty national design awards.
